RHAPSODY IN BROWNS
After working for decades with a broad palette of many colors, both bold and subdued, Andrews challenged herself to explore simply the color brown. Not so simple.
Inspiration immediately began presenting itself – tree bark, rocks, coffee, chocolates, her cat Mimi and on. The possibilities became infinite.
Having previously explored such textural materials as glass microspheres and carbon granules in her work, Andrews was now drawn to experimenting with crushed cacao beans, each presenting an array of browns inside and out.
